Recent Donations

So far in this Rotary Year (from July 1st), the Rotary Club of Lantzville has donated more than $21,500 to various individuals and organizations in your local community and our international community, including:

$200 to Mei-San (below) to help her attend the Forum for Young Canadians in Ottawa where she will learn how parliament works.  She has promised to return to the Club, after her weekend, and explain 'how parliament works'.

$200 to the Nanaimo Telephone Visiting Society

Ralph$500 to  Nanaimo's First Baptist Church's  Mexico Mission (above) to cover some of the costs they incur while helping disadvantaged people in Mexico build simple houses.

$5400 (including over $1300 donated by members) to Shelter Box Canada - towards their work helping those affected by natural disasters such as the recent earthquake in Haiti.

$250 towards the construction of a school in Afghanistan.  This is a multi-Club project, recognizing the 100th anniversary of the chartering of the first Rotary Club in Canada (in Winnipeg in 1910)

$737 (raised at a silent auction and not-so-silent auction at our Christmas dinner) to the Georgia Avenue Community School - towards the school's lunch program

$1000 (plus another $1000 from a grant from the Rotary Foundation) to the Georgia Avenue Community School - towards the school's Literacy Improvement program

$600 to Bookfest, the Children's Literature Round Table

$750 to the VISO - towards their Children's Program

$750 each to the Salvation Army, Nanaimo's 7-10 Club, Haven House and the Loaves & Fishes Foodbank - towards their Christmas programs.

$300 to Sue A. to offset some of the costs of visiting a very sick husband in Victoria

$500 to the Boys & Girls Club - towards their purchase of a changing table and a car seat

$500 to Operation Red Nose - to pay for the gas used by volunteer drivers

$500 towards a multi-Club commitment towards new latrines for a school in Bukati, Kenya

$1000 to Sara D  - to help her buy an insulin pump that will help prepare her for recruitment by and service with the RCMP

$750 to the Georgia Avenue Secondary School - towards their in-school breakfast program

$3333 to the Nanaimo Museum - the final installment of a $10,000 commitment to the Musuem's Public Use Room

$500 to the Nanaimo-Ladysmith Schools' Foundation - towards their Students' Support Fund

$820 to Loaves & Fishes - towards renovations to the Food Bank.

$525 to the Vancouver Island Children's Art Festival

$2,500 to the VIU Foundation - the final installment towards the Rotary Club of Lantzville Award ($500 annualy to a successful first year student at VIU)
